WhatsApp now allows Transfer Channel Ownership Feature
For quite some time, WhatsApp has been experimenting with a feature that grants other users the ability to manage channels, akin to how group functionalities operate. After a prolonged testing phase, WhatsApp has now begun rolling out the ability to transfer channel ownership, aiming to enhance users’ experience and offer channel owners a respite. WhatsApp Channels function as a unidirectional broadcasting tool, empowering administrators to disseminate various content types such as text messages, photos, videos, stickers, and polls.
In the Latest 2.24.2.17 version of WhatsApp a new option has been introduced within the channel settings screen, enabling the current channel owner to kickstart the transfer process by selecting a new owner from a roster of eligible users. However, the transfer can only proceed if the selected individual accepts the request.
Once the designated new owner acknowledges and accepts the transfer request, they will inherit complete administrative privileges over the channel. This includes the ability to manage channel settings and information. notably, the new owner will also possess the authority to delete the channel, remove other administrators and regulate the content posted within it.
This feature is currently available to select beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta updates. It is expected to gradually roll out to a wider user base in the coming days or weeks, enhancing the collaborative and management capabilities of WhatsApp channels.
